If you’re looking to stretch that dining dollar of yours whilst in Portland, you’re in for a rather pleasant surprise. There are plenty of inexpensive food joints you could frequent, but which are the really goodones? Let’s delve into them like one would into a slice of cake, shall we?
Tortilleria Y Tienda De Leon’s food bar
Fancy Mexican grub every once in awhile? Well, if you’re looking to eat at an inexpensive place and relish your salsa, this one’s for you. If you’re looking for the main attraction, you might wish to head inside where you will find a long deli case filled with a dozen bubbling stews called guisados. What’s interesting is that each of these meats can be made into a taco or even perhaps a plate with yellow rice and larder refried beans. You might wish to consider the Chille Renero here (11$ with rice and creamy pinto beans).
Injera specialty awaze beef tids
If you’re like me and love Ethiopian food, you can’t give this one a miss. I sat in one of the wonderful red-and-silver booths here and relished my injera. For those of you who don’t know what injera means, it’s scrumptious Ethiopian flatbread. There’s a combo platter and even a lunch buffet here. Travel posters from Addis Ababa decorating the walls, only makes for a truly all-African experience!
Langbaan interior design
If you’re looking for a place where you actually disbelieve things can be priced the way they are, look no further. In this delectable counter-service place, I found everything from curries and braised meats to jasmine rice and sour soups. The best part was, the taste was simply too good to believe that one had walked into an inexpensive restaurant. Try the Southern Thai-Style fried half chicken with sticky rice. Priced at 12$, it’s a steal of a deal.
The best dimsum at ocean seafood restaurant
Fish, anyone? You will be blown away by the variety of ocean food this place has on offer. One of the best things I liked about this place is it has a great buzz. It can seat around 200 people and it’s always lively. Don’t forget about the dumplings, though. They literally melt in your mouth. If you’re a fan of ribs, you might wish to try the braised ribs with fermented black beans.
People outside tin shed restaurant
If you have a dog, this is one place you’re going to want to visit over and over again. More than justdog friendly, it has a doggie menu of chicken and sweet potatoes and even ice cream! Juts when you might be thinking, ‘What’s in it for me?’, well, think again. There are plenty of things like eggs and burgers and everything in between you can choose from, making you and your dog, extremely happy campers!
Easy on your wallet, trust me when I say the aforementioned places will give you your stomach’s worth too! Also read here to know about the best restaurants for lunch in Portland.
